- Expert witness testimony regarding defendant's handling of
asbestos-bearing fill during levee construction project in Santa
Clara County, Calif.
- Negotiations with DTSC to settle complaint for chemical company
charged with hazardous waste permit violations in Contra Costa
County, Calif.
- Developed settlement strategy and negotiated consent decree
with U.S. EPA for printing facility charged with violations of
environmental permits in Sacramento County, Calif.

owner in case involving claims of landfill gas migration and encroachment
of landfill materials on residential properties
Case Study
Members of a homeowners association sued the owner of an adjacent landfill
claiming, among other issues, encroachment of landfill materials
and migration of landfill gases onto their property. In representing
the landfill owner, we conducted a complete file search of the
fill history, performed extensive investigations to establish
subsurface conditions, and reviewed and summarized historical
landfill-gas records. Northgate assisted the client's attorney
in preparing for mediation and formulating the defense position,
and conducted presentations at mediation sessions. Our client
prevailed in the jury trial, largely on the strength of Northgate's
expert testimony.
